6月3日，北京大学汇丰商学院2023年毕业典礼隆重举行。毕业生代表、2023届管理学硕士William Rich Bowen在发言中分享了自己在北大汇丰收获的三条经验：懂得自律，每天都努力超越昨天的自己；重要的不是目的地，而是旅途中的成长；和一群志同道合的同学朋友在一起，可以飞得更高。发言以英文进行，以下为中文译文和英文原文。

各位老师、毕业生、各位贵宾，大家好！

　　我是2023届的毕业生威廉·鲍恩，我很荣幸能在今天下午的毕业典礼上致辞。

　　不得不承认当收到上台发言的邀请时，我既受宠若惊又深感荣幸。或许你们上次见到我时，我正在南京和北大赛艇俱乐部一起用汉字唱韩语歌。

　　首先，自律，每天和自己竞争，让自己变得更好。作为学校赛艇队的一员，我几乎每天都在一边学习一边训练。无论是早上6点还是下午6点，必须全身心地投入，才能获得成功。我可以肯定地说，在座的各位毕业生也不例外。

　　第二个经验是要有一种像科比·布莱恩特那样的“这不是目的地，而是旅程”的心态。在这里有时你会感到精疲力尽，但你会鞭策自己继续前行，永不放弃。我们都已经经历过赶due、课堂演讲，和最高水平的竞争，并因此而成长。

　　最后一个经验和我们一路上结交的朋友有关。“关系”这个词语经常被用来形容各种各样的人际关系，但是直到我来到北大汇丰商学院，这个词对我来说才有了真正的意义。在我的家乡，有句谚语叫“物以类聚，人以群分”，意思是说，志同道合的人会一起展翅翱翔。在这里，你结交的朋友来自四面八方，都有着北大汇丰学子的奉献精神。你们一起展翅高飞，实现你们的目标，成就自己的同时让每个学生都成为你们团队的一部分，成为集体的一部分。

　　为此，我衷心感谢北大汇丰商学院的全体教职工，是你们让这一切成为可能。对于今天毕业的学生们来说，这是一段终生难忘的经历，我希望我们都能满怀深情地回顾在北大汇丰商学院的时光。这里让我们能超越自己的极限，我希望我们在离开这里时，以同样的方式激励其他人追求卓越。现在，是时候开始新的旅程了。无论前方是狂风暴雨还是晴空万里，现在是离巢的时候了。

　　今天是余生最年轻的一天，让我们敢于追梦，享受旅程。

Hello everyone, faculty, graduates and esteemed guests!

　　It is my great honour to speak to you all this afternoon in this graduation ceremony. I’m William Bowen, part of Class of 2023. I have to admit I was surprised and flattered when I was asked to come on stage since last time you would have caught me singing a Korean song using Chinese Hanzi singing with the Peking University boat club in Nanjing.

　　As I look back at the past two years with fond memories and think about the future and what we have achieved, I wanted to share three important lessons I’ve learned coming to PHBS, and what I think makes the School so great:

　　First, discipline yourself and compete with yourself to be better every day. As part of the School’s rowing team I found myself training almost every day alongside my studies. Whether its 6am or 6pm you have to dedicate yourself to your craft to be successful. I think it is safe to say that in this hall you graduates are no exception.

　　The second lesson is to have a mindset embodied in the words of Kobe Bryant: ‘it’s not the destination, it's the journey’. There are times here when you feel exhausted but you push yourself, you keep going and you don't give up. Whether it's the project deadlines, the presentations or competing at the highest level you’ve done all of that and we’ve grown because of that.

　　The last and final lesson relates to the friends you make along the way. Guanxi is a word that gets thrown around a lot and can mean many different types of relationships but to me that word did not have true meaning until I arrived at PHBS. Where I am from we have a saying ‘birds of a feather flock together’, the implication is that those who are like minded fly together. Here the friends you make come from near and far, and share the same dedication that makes a PHBS student. You are flying high achieving your goals together making every student at the School a part of your team and a part of the flock.

　　To this end, I want to sincerely thank the faculty and all the staff here at PHBS that make this all possible. To the graduating students today, this has been an experience of a lifetime, I hope you will all look back fondly at your time here at PHBS. This place has enabled us to go beyond the limits we thought possible and I hope you inspire others to greatness in the same way as you leave this place. Now, it’s time to embark on a new journey. Whether stormy skies or blue clouds lie ahead, it is now time to leave the nest.

　　Today is the youngest you will ever be, dare to dream big and enjoy the journey.
