Course Description:
 
This course aims to prepare students to present their theses in an effective and efficient manner, and improve their professionalism for future positions in the business and/or academic fields. There will be a limited amount of lecturing and the majority of the class time will be devoted to students’ presentations. Students are expected to not only prepare their own presentations diligently, but also take an active role in providing constructive feedbacks to their fellow students.  There is no required textbook for this course, lecture notes, if any, will be prepared by the instructor and could be distributed.

You are required to attend the first and the last session. These two sessions will be held with the whole graduating class.
 
Requirements:
 
You are expected to have a polished version of your thesis. You have to prepare a PowerPoint slide deck for a 15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A. Please submit the electronic version of slide deck to (Benc) at least 24 hours before the scheduled presentation day. You are expected to attend class regularly, and actively participate in a professional and value-adding manner. On top of presenting your thesis once, you are also required to attend three other classmates’ presentations and submit your comments upon your own choice.  You are required to hand in a 1-2 pages constructive feedback for these presentations. These comments will be delivered to the presenters to help them improve their presentation. Overall, you need to turn in 3 assignments. 
 
Presentation Arrangement:
 
Please work with your TA to pick your date and a time slot (20 minutes) during your date.
Please choose the session you wish to present your thesis. The selection of the slot will be done first-come-first-serve basis.
 
Grading:
 
The final grade will be determined based on the following three aspects:
 
Attendance   (10%)*
Presentation (60%)**
Assignments (30%)
 
* Attendance shows your class participation, which refers the learning effort during the class time.  You need to sign the attendance sheet at each class - come on time to sign your name.
**No make-up will be arranged if you miss the schedule presentation. However, under certain extreme circumstance, you need provide valid proof to arrange your make-up.                              
You need to receive the score of 70 or higher overall in order to pass the course. If you fail to do that, you will not be able to defend this academic year.
 
Academic Honesty:
 
Academic dishonesty is a serious offense.  Cheating, lying, stealing, or deceit, in any of their diverse forms (such as the use of illegal cribs, plagiarism, copying) is dishonest and will not be tolerated.  Moreover, knowingly aiding and abetting, directly or indirectly, dishonest acts by other parties is itself dishonest.  Any academic dishonesty will result in the individual involved failing the course, and the name of the individual being reported to  the dean’s office as well as discipline committee.
Final notes:
¨         Arrive in class on time and stay for the entire class, unless unavoidable extenuating circumstances occur.  Every student is entitled to full participation in class without undue interruption. 
¨         You are fully responsible for following up on all the announcements made during the lectures.
¨        Turn off any audible signals on your pager and/or cell phone before the class begins.
